Evaluation Question 7

Looking back on the preliminary task, what do you feel that you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Here i am going to compare both of my magazines, the preliminary task and now my finished magazine.
This is my pre-lim photo shoot. Here you can see how simple and plain this is compared to my finished magazine cover and contents page. This is showing how i have improved on my media work and also with my photoshop skills. On my finished magazine my over page has loads more detail to attract the audience by adding more information. My preliminary task front cover is plain with not much information and you can tell that there hasn't been much thought gone into it. Whereas on my front cover has had a lot of thought put into it and more detail added.

Looking at both of the magazines, my models have a completely different attitude. I have done this purposely so that the audience can tell the difference and the effort i have put in.As you can see my magazines are two different genres.

Overall, looking back on the Prelim magazine and my music magazine now, i can see the progression which has been made. I have added more information  and detail to attract the audience. I am very proud of the progress which has been made.

Evaluation Question 6

Adobe Photo shoot: To ensure i have got the right pictures and the overall editing to make my pictures how i want them, i have used this software.

Evaluation Question 5

How did you attract/address your audience?

Front cover:

The masthead on my music magazine is the name of the magazine "UNPLUGGED". I have put it big and bold so it stands out and attracts the fans of the magazine and many new fans. The colour scheme that i have used is black, white and red and this shows that it is not just one certain genders magazine, its for both. The colours i have used are seen as eye catching and also i have received ideas from my style models. The other names and pictures of other artists are advertised on my front cover to attract other fans of other artists so then more people buy the magazine.

Contents page:

The constant colour scheme that has been used ensures the audience that the magazine is professional. I have added links to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram on my page so that fans can see updates of the magazine and a large amount of the audience use social media. Social media is also a big part of media. I have compressed a lot of information into a small place on my contents page which will give the audience and fans insurance that there will be something in the magazine for everyone and is also worth the money. I have my audience by adding social networking symbols as my target audience is for teenagers and social media is a big part of their every day routine.

Evaluation Question 4

Who would be the audience for your media magazine?

My audience for my music magazine is teenagers both genders. Before deciding on this i done my research and got ideas on what i wanted my magazine to be like and from that, i came up with my own ideas for my magazine. Doing my own research before starting my magazine helped me a lot as if i wouldn't of done that, i would of just jumped into it without any style models to work from.
As my magazine is for both genders, i have used dark colours not just to represent that it is a rock magazine but also to make the audience aware that my magazine isn't just applied to female teenagers as the front cover has a girl band on.

Evaluation Question 3

What Kind of media institution might distribute your media product?

My target audience is both male and female, specifically between the ages 16-20 (Young professionals) however I do think people of older ages will be attracted and enjoy my magazine also. As my magazine is a mixed genre music magazine, they wouldn't have to possess a specific taste in one music genre or style because it will include a wide variety of musical genres and artists'.

Bauer Media' is a large conglomerate institution who distribute over 300 different magazines to 15 countries. Their magazine distribution stretches back to 1953 which means that they have been active for over 60 years. By having my magazine being distributed by such a large institution. I have researched this as they currently publish alot of similar that appeal to my target audience such as Kerrang! while being a private based company which is in Hamburg, Germany. They also operate over several different types of media such as online magazines, mobile radio stations and also radio television stations which appeal to my wide audience range i have chosen.

Evaluation Question 2

How does you're media product represent social groups?

The  audience for my magazine is both male and female even though my magazine cover is a girl rock band it does apply to both genders. Inside the magazine does have male, female and mixed gender bands.
My price for my magazine is £2.99 and the target audience is 15-19 year olds. The models on my front cover are young and the same age as my target audience which i think that this will catch the audience's attention. I have chosen the magazine price because the audience is for teenagers, its affordable.

Evaluation Question 1

In what ways does you're media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

I have followed style models of real music magazines to ensure that i have used the right conventions and style so this will make my magazine look as professional as possible. I have also tried my best to make my music magazine as unique as i could.

Masthead:

This is my masthead of my magazine. The masthead is big and bold to catch the audience's attention. I have used this idea from the style models that i have looked at. My magazine is called 'UNPLUGGED' and on the front cover is a main picture of the band 'revolution' which is
the main band in my magazine.

Headlines&subheading:

This is my subheading on the front cover of my magazine and it is also bold and big too attract fans of the main band that i have used which urges them to want to buy the magazine. i have also got this idea from the style models that i have looked at but still have added my own touch to make it right for my magazine. The subheading that i have used hopefully makes the fans want to read more into the magazine.

Barcode, price and date:

Here i have also used another convention of real media products to get the style right and make the audience aware of the price, the barcode and the date this magazine was issued.

Mise en scene:

For my mise en scene i have used the colours black, white and red which are eye catching colours and also represent a rock magazine genre. I have got the models in my magazine to make it look like they have a attitude so it looks more professional for my magazine photos. The models were mostly wearing dark colours to represent to the rock theme i have used.

Assessing my course work

This is a level 3 piece of work. I have picked this example because it is the same music genre and has a few similarities. Both of the main images are centred in the middle.
